The Rules Empty
PostSubject: The Rules   The Rules EmptyTue Apr 19, 2011 8:11 pm

1) Do not ask to be a mod. It is annoying and the answer will be no.

2) Respect all people and their characters. If you have an issue, politely ask a manager or an elite to help you out.

3) Naruto: Generations Unleashed is a location thread role playing group, unlike most role playing groups who use situational threads. With this in mind, if you want to post something that is happening on the streets of Suna, then post in the Suna Streets thread. Do not make a new thread called something like "Random Encounter" or a situation like that. Exceptions include Mission and Event topics.

4) Cursing in character is allowed, do it to your heart's content. Just don't cuss out a fellow member out of character.

5) You may not control anyone else's character without their written permission.

6) No spamming please. This means that any thread that is not in the right place or has no purpose within the board will be regarded as spam, and anything that is posted and has already been posted before will be regarded as spam.

7) No sexism, racism, or -ism of any kind! This includes racial slurs, or any type of slurs for that matter. It will not be tolerated.

8 ) Godmoding and power playing will not be permitted.

What is godmoding?

Passive Godmoding

Godmoding can occur when a character describes an event or a series of events he or she has taken against another character or interactive object, most often with the purpose of rescinding negative effects previously encountered or granting some other effect inconsistent with an innocent view of the narrative. Godmoding is thus often used like a get Out of Jail Free card when things don't go the way a player wants, rather than working with previously unfolded events. It is also used to describe the act of creating or playing with an invincible character or unbreakable armor, limitless power, etc. Some players will create a brand new character, and that character is automatically gifted with skills, and nearly impossible to take on right from the start. This happens when a newer character goes against an established one, and the newer character god-modes themselves as if they've been around the same length of time.

Active Godmoding

Godmoding can also refer to the case where a player definitively describes the outcome of their own actions against another character or interactive object. For example, if player A states that he strikes B and B takes damage they could be considered to be godmoding. Another example of this might be where a character is facing multiple enemies, and they redirect one foe's attack onto another. For example, Player A states, *misses A completely, and strikes C instead.*

Player A: Character A throws a punch at Character B.

Player B: Character B dodges the attack, grabs Character A and throws him out of a stained glass window. Character A flies at Character B, who warps behind him and slashes Character A in the back.

==Similarly, controlling characters that belong to someone else is also a form of godmoding.

Autoing:

The act of making decisions and/or actions for the target of your role play

Example: U dye now *kils u an waches blod shot from ur arm*.

Acts such as this are highly dishonorable and possibly the worst form of godmoding that can be acted upon.

Powermoding:

The act of constant regeneration and/or dodging of attacks and actions. This is commonly found in battle-situation role-plays. Classifications such as these are usually only used by the more experienced role players, usually to be only used after a certain level of experienced is reach. Acts such as this are not entirely dishonorable, for they are hard to notice, however this classification usually halts the SL ((Storyline)) from advancing any further, making the story both unfair and simply not fun.・

Example: After being struck by the blade aiming for his jugular *name of preference* would immediately use his anti-matter shield to regenerate within a matter of seconds. This would repeat throughout the SL ((storyline)) halting it completely

Keep in mind other forms of godmoding can include having your character be in two places at one for no reason, and using out of character information in character to gain an advantage.

Note: in order to prevent abuse of the replacement technique, it must be set up one turn in advance to use. Basically, your character has to have had it planned, and can't be used as a miraculous cop out when there are no other options.

9) You may not kill another person's character without their written permission first. People don't like it when their characters die, so just don't do it. Any violations of this will not be tolerated.

10) There are no Rin'negans on this site. Do not fill out a profile for one or you will not be accepted. Also, you will not be accepted with multiple bloodlines.

11) There are no Chakra Gates, Bijuu, Cursed Seals, or Sage Mode

12) Your first character MUST be a Genin.

13) You may not have more than one character in the same village (excluding Kages). Clan members must also only be made in their village of origin.

14) You may only have one starting Sannin, and that is only if there are Sannin positions available (limit of 3 per village), and if you have made two Genin.

15) You may not RP any of your characters in two different places at once.

16) You cannot leave your village whenever you feel like it to go wherever you want. You may only leave your village under normal circumstances when carrying out a mission, and then that is only for the mission. Unless you are given express permission of your kage, a character may not travel to any of the other ninja village.

17) When you want to say something in the role playing forums that is out of character (OOC) you must use double paranthesis.

i.e. Kazuki jumped to the left. ((will you be on later?))

18) If you do not post for 2 full days, without any warning that you will be unable to post, the people you are role playing with can move on without you, so please try to be active.

19) Though we do not require you to be a phenomenal writer, a firm, basic understanding of grammar and spelling is really a must. We must be able to understand what you are writing when you post, so appearing as though you have the grammar skills of a monkey is definitely not advised. No leatspeak, no internet shorthand, just try to write in full and complete sentences when you rp, that's all we ask.

20) If traveling from country to country, you must post in the travel board first. Remember, this is a must, you cannot just instantly appear in another place, and certainly can't magically be in two places at once, without the aid of a clone technique. Also keep in mind that you cannot travel between villages without specific permission from your village kage. Otherwise, you must rp within your own village

21) All regular custom jutsus are privately owned unless otherwise stated. All custom clan jutsus, however, are available to everyone who joins that clan.

Keep in mind that in creating these rules, we may have overlooked something. If you feel that a rule could be added/removed/changed for the better of the site, do not be afraid to bring it up with me or another mod.
