Deliver Supplies Empty
PostSubject: Deliver Supplies   Deliver Supplies EmptyMon May 30, 2011 1:23 am

Sonya

So what exactly are we here for anyway?" Sonya asked, sitting on top of one of the carriages as it rolled along the path. "I mean, they deliver supplies to the outlying camps all the time, don't they?"

"Yeah, but there's been reports of animal attacks recently," Aimi stated, swinging her legs slowly back and forth from atop the second carriage. "That and there are more concerns about bandits, too. Ever since we took out that last group, the other bandit groups have been getting more aggressive. There's no telling what might happen to the supply caravans now, so they're having shinobi guard every one that goes through."

"Hmm, I guess that makes sense," Sonya said, leaning back on her hands. "Ah well, I bet we won't even run into any problems at all. Things will go smooth as silk, that's right."

"Well, certainly hope you're right," Aimi said, with a calm breath. "Then again, I wouldn't mind a little bit of action. Maybe we'll run into some monkeys."

Sonya shuddered. "I still have nightmares about those things... damn monkeys."

Aimi giggled. "They are your ultimate enemies, that's for sure."

Some time later, as the caravan was finally nearing the designated camp, the jungle began to grow restless. Well, not so much restless as completely silent. There wasn't a sound to be heard, not even any of the wildlife that one would normally hear, well, everywhere. It was like someone had just turned mute on the entire jungle.

"Shhh, you hear that?" Aimi whispered, standing up on top of the carriage and looking around.

"Yeah... nothing." Sonya glanced from side to side, but there was nothing. No signs of life, no noises, not anything. "That can't be a good sign."

Aimi nodded. "Yeah, I'll go tell the drivers to be careful." With that, she hopped back down to the ground to inform both of the carriage drivers.

Sonya remained on top of her carriage, standing now and looking around while remaining on guard. And then two seconds later, it happened. There was a loud whistle of wind, and then all of a sudden, an explosive boom. Before she knew what was happening, she was flying through the air with a loud ringing in her ears. She hit a nearby tree hard, feeling several of her ribs crack. For what seemed like the longest time, she couldn't even move. All she could do was lie there on the ground, the world spinning and splitting everywhere as all she saw were blurry doubles of the events that followed.

A group of bandits poured out of the surrounding jungle. One of them was riding what looked like a giant prehistoric bear. Could it be some kind of summon? She didn't know... but she couldn't do anything to help. The carriages had been knocked over, and the horses were running scared. The giant bear creature took out the two drivers with one swipe... only Aimi was left, and she was doing her damnedest to fight them off. She took out three of the bandits rather quickly, but their numbers were too great. And that bear... she didn't stand a chance.

Just as Sonya was starting to regain her wits, pushing herself up slowly from the ground, the giant bear sprang at her. Before she even knew what was happening, the bear had Aimi by the throat, jaws wrapped around her soft flesh and thrashing the limp body around like a rag doll. A sudden, sick sensation dropped like a rock into Sonya's stomach.

"NOOO!!!" she screamed, the pain from her body suddenly gone. Adrenaline was fueling her body now. In an instant, she was off and running straight at the bandits. Tears streamed behind her as she raced into action, and at that very moment, the world seemed to change to her. She didn't know what was going on, but the bandits suddenly looked different, at least some of them. She could see... something about them, she didn't know what it was. It couldn't be...chakra? but chakra was invisible, for the most part, it wasn't possible to see it.

Only three of the bandits had this aura about them, one of them being the one riding the giant bear. She didn't know why, but she knew she had to take those ones out first. "YOU'RE ALL DEAD!" she screamed furiously. They started to attack her, but for some reason they seemed to be moving almost slower than normal, like she could anticipate their movements a little better. It wasn't a big change, but it was like she could see everything more clearly than before.

Not only that, but for some reason they had all stopped their attacks and were now just standing there with dazed looks on their faces. It lasted for a few moments before they started to move again, but they were sluggish, like they had just run a marathon and hadn't rested yet. Even the bear seemed to be affected, having dropped Aimi's body and staggering. Sonya didn't know what was going on, but she was going with it.

She didn't waste the opportunity. She had a knife to the bandit's throat before he could do anything, cutting it in an instant. She flipped off the bear's back then and did hand signs in mid air. She breathed out a large ball of fire and sent it raining down on the remaining bandits. In moments, their bodies were seared and burning. It didn't take long for them to die... she almost enjoyed the screams. When everything had finally settled down, the pain started to return to her body. Sonya's legs buckled, and she collapsed to her knees, holding her side. her ribs were still broken, after all. She felt like she was going to be sick.

At that moment, she caught sight of her reflection in a pool of blood on the ground. It was her... but her eyes were different. They were red... and the pupils were weird. But that couldn't be right... those weren't her eyes. Letting out a crying moan, she looked away and crawled her way over to Aimi. She reached for her friend, put a hand on her shoulder.

"Aimi..." she uttered. The girl didn't stir. "No... no no no..." Sonya winced again, bowing her head and trying to hold back the tears, but that was impossible. She screamed out again, and fell back to the ground, sobbing. The pain was unbearable, and not just her broken ribs and battered body. Several moments later, that sick sensation in her gut exploded, and she passed out cold.
