History

Kanon's parents were cave people. Well, specifically, they were both researchers, looking into the rich culture of the Land of Wind, which happened to involve investigating some caves that apparently exist somewhere out in the desert. Mostly, that was used as a cool opening line. In any case, Kanon, her younger brother, and her older sister spent most of their childhood roaming the desert with their eccentric parents, visiting various villages in their quest. They lived with some native people in some tribes and did generally weird stuff.

It might be strange that someone with an awesome/strange childhood like that ended up in a ninja village, but her parents realized that their nomadic lifestyle might have a detrimental impact on their children's social abilities. Since Kanon was interested in shiny, pointy weapons across their travels, and seemed to demonstrate some "magical" abilities with metal, it actually made some amount of sense that she was enrolled in the Academy. After nearly failing out of her first year, she eventually took to the ninja arts and graduated with the rest of her class.
