Satori's Chuunin Exam Empty
PostSubject: Satori's Chuunin Exam   Satori's Chuunin Exam EmptySat Jun 25, 2011 11:51 am

Uchiha Satori

"So this is best that the Hidden Cloud has to offer. Pitiful. I don't see a Raikage coming out of this generation anytime soon." An middle-aged man stood at the front of the classroom, his eyes scanning the seats with a combination of disgust and and mild bemusement. These were to be the first chuunin exams to be held in the village since the War of the Clouds; for all his ranting, he was even surprised that anybody decided to show up. The young Uchiha knew this. The shinobi profession was not one of particular regard within the village, since Kumogakure was the one that waged the against the Lightning Country (and unofficially won it). The kids who showed up were riff-raffs and street rats that were discarded by society (and had no other choice) like Satori. The young genin scoffed; the majority of the kids in the room only managed to pass the academy on a whim. Heck, some of them had never even held a kunai before in their lives. That was not to say that the whole group was a bunch of let-downs; the lightning-style genius Raijin was rumored to be taking the exams this year, alongside the taijutsu specialist Ken. The two were said to be front-runners during the War of the Clouds, and were rumored to have, on occasion, even killed shinobi. The genin chuckled to himself...

He'd be sure to take the two of them out further on down the road.

There was a rush of silence as the proctor spoke again, "The two chuunin that you see will begin distributing the tests. While their handing them out, you kids better listen up. This exam is a two-part written exam that will measure your mental competence (should you have any). All answers are to be written in the boxes provided in the booklet. Cheating is strictly prohibited; the first time you get caught doing it, you will lose a point, the second time, you will lost 5 points, and the third time, you will be ejected from the exam and will begin at the academy... from your first year. Just don't cheat, it's not fun for me, and it won't be fun for you. In this room are about a hundred twenty three people, we are only going to take the top sixty performers. The bottom sixty-three will just have to reapply next year. You will have 90 minutes to complete the first 9 questions. After the first part, I will give you the final question, which will take 10 minutes to complete. The first nine questions are worth one point a piece, the last one is worth ten points. There are no allies, nor are there teams in this part of the exam. It's every man for himself. The time is 10:53, you may now begin!"

There was wild scrambling as the one hundred twenty three genin rushed to complete their test. The only one who was not in a frenzy was the young Uchiha, who decided, instead, to ponder on the nature of the exam. Why was the penalty for cheating so minimal? Usually these exams pushed for ethics and just choices, yet this one appeared to be hinting that they should cheat. There was no way to tell; if the test was indeed that difficult, then it would make more sense for them to award more points for answering honestly than not. If the test was indeed that difficult, then there'd be no need to even try to answer honestly, especially if they only planned to take the top sixty performers. In a way, he could pass the exam without answering a single question and still get in over some who answered one question right and two wrong. His strategy needed to be different; he would weed out kids and make their cheating obvious so that they would have to take the point penalty. Then in the midst of that commotion, he'd scan the various papers with his Sharingan and cross-reference them for the best possible answers to certain questions. It was a long-shot, but the plan would not take much effort from him, particularly because of his skill in genjutsu.

With a string of subtle hand seals under his desk, the genin cast his first genjutsu on a fragile first-year applicant near the front of the room. It was the infamous Hell Viewing Technique, a strange genjutsu that used a swirl of leaves before revealing the victim's greatest nightmare. The poor genin in the front was instantly caught, since he never suspected to be caught in genjutsu. THe young child shot up from his seat, breathing heavily as enormous beads of sweat ran down his face. "O-Oh my... I-I can't! What is that?! WHY IS THERE A BODY ON MY DESK?!?" The young genin began to freak out, and was on the verge of ripping his test when the two chuunin overseers shot to his side, their hands on his shoulders, "Hey kid, relax. If you want, you can take a breather outside- Hey you! I-22, quit trying to use this as an opportunity to take a peak! That is a point reduction right there!" The proctor nodded his head before scribbling the seat into a notepad. The young Uchiha did not need to check his seat number; I-22 was the seat directly behind him. They knew that he had cast the genjutsu, yet, they didn't say anything. Were they encouraging his actions? No... that wouldn't make any sense. He would have to be more subtle with his genjutsu attacks, especially if the overseers were onto him. He sighed; this was beginning to be a nuisance.

Since the attack, the genin did not attempt any more genjutsu; he was content with the answers that he managed to scrounge up. The 90 minute time period was almost up in any case, and he could not chance losing any points.

The proctor finally stood up.

"Stop working, maggots. Time's up. The two chuunin will collect all the papers and bring it up front." The two chuunin grinned as they collected the papers; the tenth question was about to be presented. Once the papers reached the front desk, the proctor did something that none of them could have seen coming...

He ripped up the exams.

"I've seen enough. In case you were wondering, there was no tenth question, and those of you who wasted your time actually answering these questions should be ashamed of yourself. This was a test to measure to your ability to gather information and intel in a high-stress environment. The lot of you got the point afterthe first two minutes. These questions with the idea that you'd never be able to answer them. We had past chuunin who already knew the answers sit in various positions throughout the room so that you could utilize them. But most of you were too noble to even see what the life of a shinobi is about. I'm done lecturing you. Anyone who receives a kunai from me has advanced and should meet in the front entrance in t-minus 5 minutes. The rest of you.... get out of my sight."

A kunai flew ferociously onto the young Uchiha's desk, splintering the wood and leaving behind the smell of iron mixed with sawdust.

He had passed the first part.

Satori's Chuunin Exam Empty

Uchiha Satori

The young genin tossed his Earth Scroll a couple times in the air as the proctor spoke, his eyes closed as the burlish woman spoke of the dangers of Kumo's mountains. It was fairly obvious; the whole speech was for the fencers, the kids who were more afraid for their lives than hungry for success. It didn't bother him, however; he had grown up in the streets of Kumo with the belief that people were born to die. A bunch of spook stories would never be enough to deter him from his goal. Heck, the only thing that was holding him back from completing these stupid exams was the gate.

"When do we start?"

All eyes turned to the young Uchiha who looked disinterested at best. They were astonished at his cool nature; had he not heard about the dangers of the Kumo mountains? Practically everyone knew the legend of how the Raikage, Aosagibi, had led his enemies into the abandoned woods and came out unscathed, with no weapons or shinobi experience. The forest chose who it wanted to leave its domain; only those who were pure in heart could leave the forest. The moment one had an unsavory thought within the forest...

...the person would be consumed alive.

This was the idea that kept everyone on edge; if they were going to retrieve another team's scrolls, they would have to fight. But the moment that they had any thought of harming the person... It was a paradox in and of itself. Unless, the proctors expected them to all hold hands and sing khumbaya, there was no way that anyone would be able to advance. On top of that, the proctors seemed to encourage fighting by giving every team of genin a bag full of supplies, weaponry, and food. A long kunai was given to each team as they stood there, each proctor grinning with pride, "Be careful in there, kiddies. The moment your heart becomes impure..." The chuunin brought his finger across his neck arrogantly. Satori scoffed, "All hearts are impure, surviving this forest will come down to how well you can hide that impurity."

The chuunin frowned at Satori's mood-kill, "They're lining up at the gates. You should head out."

"...so, I think it would be proper if we start with introductions. The name's Kujaku, fire-style genius from the northern Hidden Cloud! What about you two?"

Satori face-palmed; he would be the one to get stuck with the hyperactive one and the super-shy one. He sighed, cutting off the kunoichi named Mai, "The name's Satori. That's all you need to know."

The red-haired kid got dangerously close to his face, blocking out the streams of light that had penetrated the dome of leaves over them. "You think you're better than us Mister Guy?! I heard your little retort back there outside the gates! You may have the proctors fooled, but you haven't fooled me. Deep down inside, I know that you. are. scared. shitless."

The genin examined his rather unintriguing teammate. Kujaku was a gangly kid, possibly no more than twelve with eyes that matched the scarlet tone of his hair. He was no Uchiha, that much could be made certain; his chakra was too unruly for that. The same could be applied to his timid teammate as well, who, for all he was concerned, barely had a trace of chakra to begin with. He sighed; it looked like for this part of the exam, he would be hauling weight. He stared at red-head mercilessly, "Do not confuse me with you, twerp. If it weren't for the fact that I had to bring you two pieces of trash alive with me to the tower at the center, I'd have killed you already." He rose from his position, not caring to learn anything more about Kujaku or Mai. As far as he was concerned, this was the prime time to be taking scrolls. Most of the rookies would no doubt be trying to get comfortable. The more weather-torn they were, the more experienced they became. If he waited until the last day to take the scrolls, he would no doubt be ganged upon. And with these two as so-called teammates, he would certainly...

"Gather your things. We are going to attack the first group that comes across us. Oh yeah..." The two teammates looked up in anticipation for the powerful genin's advice, "Make you sure you don't get in my way."

The first group of genin were a set of bandana faced kunoichi. At first glance, they did not appear to be much of a threat, especially because they held no weapons. Although Satori suspected this to be merely an indication of their extreme taijutsu or ninjutsu prowess. He jumped out of a hidden spot among the trees and looked at the three kunoichi with mild bemusement. "You three are rather unintimidating without weapons, you know? Sorta makes me feel bad for beating you three lovely ladies up." There was a chuckle from the three kunoichi as they responded, "The jokes on you, pal. Where are your teammates? You can't expect to fight the three of us at once all by yourself? We may be kunoichi, but we are the prime shinobi in this competition. So you'd better do yourself some good and just hand over that scroll."

The genin grinned, "Your threats are about as empty as your bras are. Just get ready so we can fight."

There was a hiss from the three kunoichi before they flashed through a string of hand seals, shooting out a devastating barrage of lightning bolts from their mouths. The lightning barrage filled the poor, wooded area with soot and smoke, reducing the area where the young genin once stood into a crater of ash. Suijaku instantly yelled, "OH NO!" His wide eyes fell into despair; sure, he hated the guy with every fiber of his being, but Satori was still a teammate... He had hoped that he would be much stronger...

There was an arrogant laugh as the genin stood in a branch, far above the group. "Wow, for a group of powerful kunoichi, you seem to be incapable of noticing genjutsu. Now, if you still insist on holding onto your scroll, I will have to kill you. Come now, I know that the one on the right has it." He grinned before pulling out a white scroll which rotated softly in the air. The kunoichi on the far right began to panic; she had dangled the scroll around her neck as a sign of confidence... In its place hung and empty water bottle... So that was the genjutsu that the kid had been talking about...

"It doesn't matter! I'll just take it back from you brats and take your scroll as well-" She looked around in surprise... She couldn't move... What exactly was going on...?

"It hurts, doesn't it? Your two friends are feeling it as well. The pain of having a giant nail forced into their bodies. We will take our leave now... It won't be long before the wild animals come to feast.." The genin grinned before flickering out of the area, his eyes turned towards the sky with pride, "Good luck in the afterlife. Now, vanish!"

Uchiha Satori

"Funny that we should end up standing across each other now, eh, Satori-san?" There was an eerie silence in the arena as Satori stood across from his long-time friend, Enenra, "Indeed, it is. Such a strange twist of fate, if I may add. However, I will not show mercy Enenra, so I would advise that you drop out now... before you get seriously hurt." The other genin scoffed, "Yeah right, as if I'll give you that joy. No, we will fight here, and settle the score once and for all." The young Uchiha looked at the opponent that had been a part of his street-time gang during the War of the Clouds. His appearance had not changed one bit; he still had that stately build, with a slightly round stomach, ash-gray hair, and light gray eyes. His jaw was angular, not to suggest arrogance, but to insist upon its viewers that its owner was in excellent shape. His hair was matted on the top, while his lips were always pursed. Of all the people who he had grown up with, Enenra had always proved himself to be the most senseless; in confrontations with shinobi, he always suggested a fight, and was too hot-headed during covert missions. That was why he had had to let him go. Enenra had not taken that too well, and swore that he would get revenge. And here they were, standing across each other in a setting of legal combat; there was no better setting to settle their differences. The proctor did not seem to notice the stare-down, or rather did not seem to care. Instead he merely shrugged before stating, "You know the rules. No biting, no cheap shots, when I say the fighting is over. It's over. Begin."

There was a roar from the crowd as Enenra rushed at Satori straight on, disregarding the formal bow that they were supposed to give. In an instant, the young genin felt the brute's fist connect with his stomach, causing a few droplets of blood to shoot from his mouth. The genin collapsed to his knees, his arms wrapped tightly around his stomach. That bastard... He was not going to fight on fair terms... Enenra scoffed, "You were always too trusting, Satori. Right after you basically fired me, I went to the Yakuzas. They built me up and raised me up to social heights that your petty little gang could only dream of reaching. I only join this foolish exam after hearing that you would be in it, so I could personally kick your ass. Now, get up!" Satori coughed violently; the world around him was spinning... He couldn't exactly tell what was going on... Enenra never had that type of strength as a streetrat. For him to grow so strong over such a short period of time... There was only one answer.

"You've been taking the pill, Enenra. I thought you knew that that pill will only drag you down in the long run-"

"DON'T YOU DARE LECTURE ME UCHIHA SCUM! I have the right to do what I want with my body, and I decided to make it stronger! You only say that out of fear of your incumbent death!"

Satori rose his head, his pupils now read with a tomoe within them, "Pft, fear? I killed emotions like that long ago. Come Enenra, I want to see you try that punch again. I promise, I won't move an inch."

The other genin winced as he looked straight into the red eye, a fatal mistake. A swirl of leaves instantly surrounded him before leaving him alone in the arena, his crime boss now before him.

"No... no... this couldn't be right... S-Sir... I'm sorry sir... I meant to tell you that I was here... I couldn't do the job because I wanted to be... Well.. PLEASE DON'T HURT ME!"

The crime boss walked towards him, his eyes unforgiving as they stared at the genin before him, "You're through. Get out of this arena before I gut you like a fish. You disobeyed orders and lied to the Family. That, my son, is unforgivable. You may leave with your life, but I will only give you one minute to do so. After that, you're fish meat. One, two..."

The genin shot up from his knees and ran out of the dome, his arms pumping in panic.

Meanwhile, in the real world, the audience only saw the kid look into Satori's eyes before falling to his knees and asking for his forgiveness... It was a strange battle indeed...
