Sonya

“You going to be able to do this?” Hachi asked, sitting across from Sonya at the table.

They were smack in the middle of the ANBU headquarters in Suna, just after having come back from their latest mission. The surviving shinobi that they had captured was currently sitting in the interrogation room, waiting to be questioned. Normally, they would have the actual interrogators handle it, but this time was different.

“Yeah... yeah I think so,” Sonya said, nervously. She glanced around a little, waiting to be called in. It wasn't every day that you interrogated someone for the first time.

“Relax, you'll do fine,” Hachi said, taking a sip of water from his glass. “They've already tried it easy and he's not talking, so you don't need to worry about buttering him up. Just go in there and give him everything you got to make him talk. You wanted me to help you get an apprenticeship in the interrogation squad right? Well, consider this your try out.”

Sonya looked back up and him and let out a long breath, nodding. “Right, okay, I'll do my best.” She just hoped her best was good enough. This would be her first time interrogating anyone, and while she had a method in mind, she had no idea if it would actually work. Did she really have the ruthless nature required to be an effective interrogator? Well, she was about to find out.

“Sonya,” a voice said. “We're ready for you.”

Looking up, she noticed a senior shinobi standing at the door of the interrogation room. It was the head of the interrogation squad, Jirobou, the man who would be her immediate superior should she be accepted to the group. This was the man she had to impress. Slowly getting up from her seat, she took in a deep breath and then let it out. Hachi gave her one more nod of encouragement, and then she was off.

Jirobou led her into the interrogation room but did not follow inside. He merely opened the door for her and shut it behind her. The room was empty, save for a single table in the center, at which the rogue shinobi sat. He was exhausted from the looks of it, still suffering from injuries. A two way mirror was positioned on the wall behind him, allowing the other interrogators to watch from another adjacent room.

It was dark, save for a single light that shined down on the prisoner. Sonya stepped out of the shadows and towards the table, sitting down across from the prisoner and folding her hands. She looked at him square in the eyes, and he looked back, almost in disbelief.

“They sent... a little girl...” he wheezed, laughing snidely. His voice caught in a fit of coughs for a moment. “...how...amusing.”

“I'm going to give you one chance to answer me before I'm forced to hurt you,” Sonya said, calmly, smoothly. Inside, her heart was beating a million miles a minute, but on the outside she remained relaxed. “Where did you and your friends come from? Who are the marauders you're working for? And where are they hiding?”

The man laughed again, amidst another series of coughs. “Bite me.”

Sonya let out a long sigh, closing her eyes. “Very well...” she said, pausing for a moment. She then opened her eyes again, Sharingan now activated.

The man instantly recoiled. “Wha-what, no, those eyes,” he stuttered, bewildered. He apparently knew the Sharingan enough to be frightened of it. That alone would help the interrogation. “No, you get away from me, I don't know nothing!”

To the prisoner, the room would have disappeared, now standing in an empty plain of despair. The first metal stake drove down into the elbow of his right arm. The sickening sound of bone popping and snapping filled the room, though only audible to Sonya and her victim. The man screamed, excruciating pain suddenly filling his body.

“NO!” he cried, writhing wildly in agony. He held his arm, thrashing, trying to free it from the invisible stake, but to no avail. “I DON'T KNOW ANYTHING! I SWEAR!”

The second stake came down and drove through his left kneecap, shattering it and pinning him to the floor. His screams were enough to raise the hair on the back of one's neck. Bloodcurdling, horrifying screams. To the interrogators in the next room, all they could see was the man sitting in his seat, pinned down by invisible restraints and screaming. They couldn't see the stakes that tormented him or hear his bones twisting and snapping. That was all in his head.

This continued for nearly a half hour. Sonya added one stake at a time, each one driving through another joint or limb, each one tearing through his bones and muscles, each one adding an immense amount of pain to his already crippled body. The whole time, Sonya sat there calmly, with her hands folded, waiting for him to give up. This was easy; she could do it all day.

“Alright! ALRIGHT!” the man shrieked, by this time lying on the floor and staring blankly upwards. He was sobbing, the pain too much for him. “I'll..t-tell you...wha-what I... know... please just ma-make it...s... make it st...stop. P-please...”
