| When Sonya finally awoke again, she felt like she had been hit by a train. Her ribs screamed in agony, and she couldn't even sit up straight. All she could do was lie there helplessly, wondering where she was. Eventually, she recognized the room as one of the hospital rooms, where she'd played the part of a nurse during one mission... where both she and Aimi had played the part of nurses.
"Ah, I see you're awake," a voice said from next to her bed. It was a doctor. "You had one rough fight, that's for certain. In truth, you're lucky to be a live. You can thank the medical-nin that brought you in for that. He managed to stop the internal bleeding long enough to get you here so we could perform surgery."
Sonya was barely listening to the doctor. She only stared at the ceiling. "Aimi..." she uttered.
The doctor hung his head slightly. "The other girl... I'm sorry, but she didn't make it. She was already dead when she got here."
Clenching her jaw, Sonya took in a deep breath and let it out in the form of a coughing, pained groan. She closed her eyes again and started to cry, her breaths choppy and uneven. It was her fault that Aimi had died, she hadn't been able to help her friend. If only she had been able to fight sooner, they could have taken out the bandits together before anyone got hurt. It was all her fault!
"I'll... leave you alone to rest," the doctor said, taking his clipboard and exiting the room. | Mood: Sorrow
